About

Objectives

  • To develop high-yielding, high-quality, bolting-resistant, disease-resistant onion varieties with varying maturities, pungency levels, and scale colors for New Mexico growers.
  • To research the genetics of pink root resistance, fusarium basal rot resistance, bolting resistance, and bulb quality traits of onion populations.
  • To investigate cultural practices as they relate onion production.
  • To research traits that influence mechanical harvestability of onions.
